The Main Company brings authentic character to today’s homes with bespoke wood flooring and made-to-order finishes. No piece of wood is identical; no kitchen the same – ranging from panels and parquet to planks, each piece of timber used in the wood flooring has a unique history.
The onsite kiln allows all the timber to be dried to the correct moisture content prior to order. As one of only a few companies in the UK that engineer reclaimed timber flooring that is compatible with under-floor heating, The Main Company’s state-of-the-art machinery ensures that flooring can be re-machined to the highest of standards.
For a light-coloured wood flooring, the Burnt Grey Oak is a true favourite – weathered with the same characteristics of the sun burnt oak of the south facing European barns. The attrition of the snow, wind, sun and rain creates a beautiful grey patina with burnt tattin knots. The Burnt Grey Oak is made with reactive stains and hand applied patinas; these meticulous hand-ageing techniques create a floorboard with the same characteristics of the weathered barn boards. As it is reclaimed, no two hand-aged Burnt Grey boards are the same. The beautiful boards will enlighten any residential or commercial space and provide an incredible focal point to any given space.
For a mid-coloured flooring, the Washed Weathered Wharf Board is heavily structured, echoing the undulating textures of a sea beaten wharf. The appearance is rustic and rugged but the board is smooth and soft to the touch. The beautiful patina is heavily structured and offers an amazing washed and worn texture of old white, broken with dark burnt knots bursting through the surface and subtle brown undertones. This flooring can be configured into any desired style, including herringbone, brick and ladder patterns.
For a darker wood flooring option, the stunning Slate Oak has a beautiful natural look – the inspiration being the rolling hills of Cumbria, when the rain glistens on the slate against the sunrays. The dark black rich creates an engaging oak floor and the metallic weathered silver grey adds the final layer of depth to this stunning patina. Reclaimed wood flooring has many benefits in the kitchen and is celebrated for its unique surface textures that only improves with age. Repurposing timber not only provides the material with a new lease of life but also introduces a rich design history to a kitchen design that doesn’t compromise.
